  • Today, the Campbell County Fair in Gillette features free entertainment in the Plaza and Wyoming Center with livestock shows and a full contact jousting show led by Canadian equestrian Shane Adams, who holds 17 international titles. Later this evening, Dubois hosts a Friday Night Rodeo at the Clarence Allison Memorial Arena starting at 6 p.m. and a free comedy night begins at 8 p.m. with the Midwest Comedy Tour.  County 17

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Gillette's mayor said nuclear technology companies are interested in doing business in the city to bring nuclear energy alongside oil and coal — a change that may boost local energy options.  Gillette News Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Library Foundation Inc.—together with CCPLS—is surveying residents aged 55 and older to choose free, professionally-taught art workshops that will be offered at Gillette and Wright libraries, and responses will help guide the class schedule.  Campbell County

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After hearing input from community members, experts, and politicians on Wednesday, the Joint Minerals, Business and Economic Development Committee tabled a proposal to allow nuclear reactor manufacturers to store spent fuel on site. The decision delays the matter until the 2026 legislative session as supporters and opponents continue to voice their concerns over safety and local impacts.  County 17
  • The recently passed Big Beautiful Bill will pay ranchers for cattle killed by predators—official details on whether federal payments add to state funds and the timing of reimbursements remain unclear. Jim Magagna from the Wyoming Stock Growers Association said the measure may ease pressure on the Game and Fish program that paid more than $1 million for losses last year—further clarification is expected.  Wyoming Public Media
  • On Tuesday, the Joint Minerals, Business and Economic Development Committee rejected an effort to repeal Wyoming’s coal carbon capture mandate, with seven of eight House members voting to keep the policy while only one senator supported the repeal + Gillette Rep. Christopher Knapp said he will likely reintroduce his bill to address rising ratepayer costs in a future session.  County 17
