Gillette College estimates its 2026 budget will increase by about 1% over last year's $26.5 million even with a $1.275 million cost for ongoing development.

Whitney School of Nursing, was named the 2024 AACN Advocate of the Year Award winner for her work promoting nursing education nationally—she began as dean in 2019 and helped improve learning and faculty support during COVID-19. Smith plans to keep working to prepare future nurse leaders.
On Thursday, the Campbell County Public Library hosted children and their parents in its Wyoming Room to kick off its Summer Reading program.

Two Gillette teens will attend an intensive one week long summer program on American politics organized by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 42—where they will learn about national and state government at Wyoming Girls State.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department relocated an adult male grizzly bear that was captured on May 16 for cattle depredation on private land—working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, they moved the bear to Glade Creek drainage, 2.5 miles south of Yellowstone National Park.
Gillette City Council voted this week to advance an amendment banning open carry in city buildings—this measure will also remove most conceal carry restrictions to comply with a new state law.
Gillette College board trustees approved the first reading of a draft concealed carry policy on campus this week - a step taken after state legislation signed this spring prompted new campus gun rules.
The draft policy now awaits further review.
