- ➤ On May 1, the Laramie County Sheriff's office will join the Special Olympics torch run to support over 200 Wyoming athletes, including 4 to 8 Cheyenne athletes who will carry the flame from Storey gym to the state capitol. Organizers say the run will begin at 8:30 a.m. with road closures until 10:30 a.m. to keep the route safe & help raise funds for athletes to reach state games. Wyoming News Now
- ➤ Four local youth wrestlers won state tournament matches in Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco today under interim coach JR Draper after longtime coach Danny Provost returned from military deployment (wrestlers Wyatt Mason, Tarren Sarver, Paxton Steinmetz, and Burke Malyurek achieved a Triple Crown win), highlighting Gillette’s strong wrestling tradition and community support. - ➤ Ninety-six women pilots will compete in the 48th annual Air Race Classic, a 2,426-mile airplane race that will stop in Gillette, start in Fairhope on June 17, and finish in Spokane on June 20.
