CRIME NEWS

  • A Campbell County judge bound former Legacy Living contract worker Bernard D. Hale for felony involuntary manslaughter after finding probable cause that his care failures led to the January 9 death of 88-year-old Judith Duvall from prolonged exposure in freezing conditions—further legal steps are pending.  County 17

CULTURE NEWS

  • Craig Johnson, a New York Times bestselling author, will speak at Campbell County Public Library on Wednesday, June 11 at 6 p.m.—he will discuss his newest Longmire story 'Return to Sender.'  Campbell County
  • The 4th Annual Powder River Basin Sheepherder's Festival will take place in Gillette on May 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the field between Fire Station 1 and the Rockpile Museum, featuring live sheep shearing, cultural performances, working dog demonstrations, and historic sheepwagons — admission is free and the event is family friendly.  Campbell County

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Archaeologist Spencer Pelton said his office can conduct archaeological surveys+and cultural reviews required by law to assist federal land managers dealing with fewer staff. He added that this help may allow trail updates+and ease labor demands on federal projects.  Wyoming Public Media
  • On April 23, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to five incidents, including a two-vehicle collision at 8:02 a.m.—three medical responses and one hazardous material investigation, with a total of 1,039 calls year-to-date.  County 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • On May 1, the Laramie County Sheriff's office will join the Special Olympics torch run to support over 200 Wyoming athletes, including 4 to 8 Cheyenne athletes who will carry the flame from Storey gym to the state capitol. Organizers say the run will begin at 8:30 a.m. with road closures until 10:30 a.m. to keep the route safe & help raise funds for athletes to reach state games.  Wyoming News Now
  • Four local youth wrestlers won state tournament matches in Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco today under interim coach JR Draper after longtime coach Danny Provost returned from military deployment (wrestlers Wyatt Mason, Tarren Sarver, Paxton Steinmetz, and Burke Malyurek achieved a Triple Crown win), highlighting Gillette’s strong wrestling tradition and community support. Their success marks a key moment in a season of building teamwork and local pride.  County 17
  • Ninety-six women pilots will compete in the 48th annual Air Race Classic, a 2,426-mile airplane race that will stop in Gillette, start in Fairhope on June 17, and finish in Spokane on June 20. The race honors the 96th anniversary of the Women’s Air Derby and features 43 teams flying through eight stops + pilots will test their skills over varied terrain.  County 17
