Gillette residents are invited to join a nationwide effort to honor veterans during Wreaths Across America Day organized by the Powder River Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron.
The main wreath-laying event will take place Saturday, Dec. 13 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery’s Inspiration Point—other remembrance ceremonies are set for Dec. 12, Dec. 16, and Dec. 18.
Campbell County Recreation Center has started its 37th annual Secret Santa program, offering local residents a festive opportunity to exchange gifts this holiday season.
The Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport is asking locals to donate nonperishable food, cleaning supplies, and gift cards to support 12 TSA agents working without pay during the federal shutdown—donations are accepted at the airport office during designated hours this week.
Officials noted that federal rules prevent cash, checks, and prepaid cards from being accepted.

Campbell County's average gas price fell 2 cents to $2.90 per gallon this week while national prices rose to $3.03, GasBuddy data show.
Monday's report showed that the lowest fuel price in Gillette was $2.84 at M.G. Oil Co. (502 El Camino Road).
🎓 Education
Today the Campbell County School District Board of Trustees will meet at the Educational Services Center at 6 p.m. to consider a new policy for armed educators, requests for student expulsions and bids for facility upgrades.
Board Chairman Lisa Durgin will lead the meeting and trustees will hear academic reports and honor veterans — decisions that could affect district operations and safety.

A letter in Gillette urged Gov. Mark Gordon to approve BWXT’s $100 million request from Wyoming’s Large Project Energy Matching Fund to build a $300 million TRISO nuclear fuel plant that will safely produce nuclear pellets while avoiding high-level waste storage — the writer warned that without action, Wyoming could lose its edge in leading safe energy production.
