CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Campbell County Rockpile Museum in Gillette will host author Bruce Goodwin on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 2:15 p.m.—he will share stories from his book 'Close Calls, Near Misses, and Direct Hits' and answer questions. Free admission begins at 1 p.m. so visitors can explore local exhibits that highlight Campbell County’s heritage before the presentation. County 17
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Campbell County’s gasoline price rose 2 cents over the past week to $2.70 on Monday, making it the second cheapest fuel option in the area. The lowest price of $2.53 is at a Shell station on Highway 59 S—GasBuddy data shows the national average climbed slightly to $3 per gallon. County 17
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Campbell County School District 1 Board of Trustees meets today at 6 p.m. at the Educational Services Center to recognize bus drivers and discuss district updates. The board will review academic reports, facility updates and approve contracts, school improvement plans and maintenance projects — with an invitation for public comment. County 17
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Bureau of Land Management will hold a federal auction in June that offers over 250000 acres for oil and gas drilling in Wyoming migration corridors—raising concern from environmental groups that worry about wildlife safety. Industry officials say they will use horizontal drilling and existing roads to limit corridor damage—while public feedback on the lease sale is accepted through Nov. 17. County 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Oct 26, the Campbell County Fire Department in Gillette responded to six calls including four medical emergencies, one smoke investigation, and one hazardous materials investigation, bringing their year-to-date total to 2,631 calls. County 17
- ➤ Governor Mark Gordon and the Wyoming Energy Authority announced today funding for three projects using Energy Matching Funds (EMF) to boost core energy development. Basin Electric’s FEED study will assess a second coal unit at Dry Fork Station in Gillette, while Contango Resources and the University of Wyoming plan to study CO₂ transportation and upgrade the Integrated Test Center (ITC) for carbon capture. - ➤ On Monday, Oct 27th, the Campbell County Public Library board met at 4:30 p.m. in the Wyoming Room at the library in Gillette to review routine business, discuss updates on the Wright Branch Library construction, vote on the 2026 Library Calendar Hours and Other Closures, and consider a Visionary Renewal Agreement while hearing the Director’s Report on operations. Community members offered comments during the meeting—further input will be welcomed at the next session on Nov 24th. County 17
