COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Oct 7, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to five calls including four medical emergencies at Gold Buckle Place, Orchid Lane, Madsen Road and Coal Dust Road — plus a two-vehicle collision on Rodgers Drive near Newton Road. Year to date, the department handled 2,495 service requests.  County 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Gillette City Council approved contracts for utility improvements and vehicle purchases—awarding bids to Hot Iron Incorporated, selecting new vehicles from Larry Peak Motors and Sheridan Motors, granting liquor licenses for QPot Berea Barbecue and Horse Palace, and approving public works such as water supply and wastewater projects. The council also passed a parade permit for the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11 and sent back bids for the Shoshone Avenue Beautification Project due to a legal provision.  County 17
  • On October 7th, the City of Gillette honored Dayleena Brandenburg for 20 years of dedicated service when the City Council paused its meeting—she began as an Account Service Specialist in October 2005 and was later promoted to Out-service Coordinator in February 2023.  County 17
  • At Wednesday's meeting, the Campbell County Board approved a $325,473 contract to remodel the Clerk’s Office (expected to finish in January), a 55-ton lowboy trailer for $10,830 for landfill needs, a $24,141 repair project for the ice arena, a $700,000 legal settlement that avoids further legal costs, subawards for community initiatives, and a $220,014 bid to upgrade the airport’s jet fuel system. Wright Emergency Management announced Red Cross training on Oct. 18 while the board scheduled its next meeting for Oct. 21 and the courthouse closed on Oct. 13 for Columbus Day.  County 17
  • Terri Lesley, former director of the Campbell County Public Library, settled her complaint with the county commission and library board for $700K a little more than two years after she first filed her grievance—this settlement ends the prolonged dispute.  Gillette News Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the Wyoming Cowboys basketball team announced its 2025–26 conference schedule which includes seven nationally televised games with four at home and contests on CBS Sports Network — FS1. They will open the conference slate by hosting Grand Canyon on December 20 and will hold an exhibition contest in Gillette on Saturday, October 18th at 4:00 p.m. before facing College of Idaho on Saturday, October 25th at 12:20 p.m.  County 17
