  • The Kiwanis Club of Gillette is hosting its annual hunter’s party free to attend and is selling raffle tickets every weekend, with the event starting at 5:30 p.m. today at Cam-plex’s Energy Hall.  Gillette News Record

ECONOMY NEWS

  • High Plains Power is still paying its 93 rooftop solar customers at a lower wholesale rate—despite a Wyoming Supreme Court ruling last summer that found the payment method unfit—with a repayment plan pending approval from state regulators.  Wyoming Public Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Wyoming Department of Education announced it was awarded a $24.4 million literacy grant to improve reading and writing skills for children from birth through grade 12. The funds will be distributed over five years to enhance professional development and community engagement — supporting a stronger statewide literacy system.  County 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department captured and relocated two grizzly bear cubs—one male and one female—on Sept. 21 after repeated hazing efforts failed to deter them from a private residence. In cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Shoshone National Forest, officials moved the cubs to the Clarks Fork River drainage 26 miles northwest of Cody to reduce future conflicts.  County 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bureau of Land Management will offer 3,508 acres of federal coal reserves for competitive sealed bid in October. The lease covers land in Campbell and Converse counties—containing hundreds of millions of tons of coal.  Gillette News Record
  • Wyoming lawmakers met on Sept. 25 in Newcastle to hear local views on redistricting after a bill changed how legislative seats are drawn—some proposed a weighted voting system to boost rural influence. They plan to review these ideas virtually and may propose changes during the 2026 budget session.  Wyoming Public Media

HEALTH NEWS

  • The mother of a Byron woman who killed her four children and herself filed a lawsuit Monday against a Cody psychiatric clinic, alleging that improper at-home ketamine use led to the tragic murder-suicide. Lawmakers plan to review ketamine protocols and health experts warn that unsupervised treatment—urging better guidelines—may raise risks in psychiatric care.  County 17
