- ➤ Car insurance rates fell in August as the national full-coverage average dropped from $186 to $184 and liability coverage decreased from $104 to $103, while Wyoming now offers the most affordable rates; Insurify projects a 5% rise later for full coverage—drivers in Gillette can use safe driving and available discounts to lower costs. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Bureau of Land Management approved a competitive lease sale for federal coal reserves covering 3,508 acres in Campbell and Converse counties on September 25. The sale will take place October 8 at 10 a.m. in Cheyenne—qualified bidders will submit sealed offers to support domestic coal production. County 17
- ➤ The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office will host a Community Drug Take Back event on Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its lobby at 600 West Boxelder Road—attendees can drop off unused medications in a 24-hour drop box for proper destruction by law enforcement. County 17
- ➤ The Department of Veterans Affairs announced that $10,917,945 in grant funds will support Volunteers of America Northern Rockies in helping homeless Veterans with services such as housing, health care, financial planning, childcare, legal help and transportation during fiscal year 2026. The grant is part of a nationwide effort to provide key support to Veterans in need. County 17
