COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Powder River Energy Foundation and Basin Electric Power Cooperative donated $15,000 to Climb Wyoming to help low-income single mothers gain job training—aimed at boosting workforce development in northeast Wyoming. The match from Basin Electric supports programs that teach career and life skills so mothers can work toward financial independence.  County 17
  • The Campbell County CARE Board is leading a Community Needs Assessment that asks residents about challenges in housing, healthcare, childcare, and employment, and leaders will use survey feedback to guide changes over the next three years.  Campbell County

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Campbell County gasoline prices increased by 7 cents to $2.95 per gallon while the national average rose by 2.2 cents to $3.14 per gallon, according to GasBuddy data. The increase marks a reversal from last week—Natrona County prices remain lower at $2.74 per gallon.  County 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A draft resolution on nuclear waste storage in Campbell County was posted yesterday for public comment. Residents can submit their feedback online—this input will guide future county policy.  Campbell County
  • The Campbell County Library is looking for tens of thousands of dollars in grant funding for new projects like a solar-powered tech bench and an outdoor story walk—Linda Allred now runs the grant process while the library has applied for a $50,000 grant for new chairs and will hear on $10,000 and $25,000 grants in about six weeks.  County 17
  • Gillette attorney Craig Abraham was honored on Sept. 18 at the Wyoming Bar’s Annual Meeting and Judicial Conference for handling over 20 public defender appointments free of charge—his work helped serve clients who could not afford their own legal help.  County 17
  • A stretch of First Street in Gillette is closed for the next week for resurfacing after a water main break repair, the city announced Monday. The closure—affecting the segment from 4-J Road to Richards Avenue—is expected to lift on Monday, Sept. 29.  County 17
  • Wyoming lawmakers are drafting a bill that would require mountain bikers to pay a fee to support state trail maintenance as federal funds drop—mountain bikers may pay $5 daily or an annual fee ($10 for residents, $20 for nonresidents) while minors remain exempt and violators face an $85 fine. Supporters say the fee will fund needed trail upgrades and the proposal may be voted on during the 2026 budget session.  Wyoming Public Media
  • Steve Sheridan was sworn in as Bar Nunn's interim police chief today. He is a retired Florida officer with 25 years of experience and will lead the new police department until the town council hires a full-time chief—previously, the Natrona County Sheriff's Office handled local policing.  Wyoming News Now
