ECONOMY NEWS

  • Wyoming's manufacturing employment is projected to grow by 13.1% + 1,340 new jobs will be added between 2022 and 2032. Overall employment is expected to rise by 12.1% in that period.  Wyoming News Now
  • Wyoming lawmakers said that a GOP bill cutting fees for coal mining from 12.5% to 7% until 2034 cost the state about $50 million a year—raising worries about budget problems. They are looking for ways to fix the loss.  Wyoming Public Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State government reporter Chris Clements will visit Gillette, Devils Tower, Hulett, and Sundance from September 21 to 24 to interview local residents about property tax cuts and gun‑free zones—he will also meet with Rep. John Bear and Sen. Ogden Driskill for additional insights ahead of the next legislative session.  Wyoming Public Media
  • The U.S. is updating its nuclear missile program and is using Wyoming as a testing ground—F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne will add new towers and land easements as the Sentinel missiles are now expected to launch in 2033. Local landowners and taxpayers may face additional impacts as construction unfolds over the next three to five years.  Wyoming Public Media
  • Campbell County Commissioners met Tuesday and honored six long-serving employees while approving grants such as a $25,000 grant for a new Rockpile Museum exhibit and a $344,971 grant to upgrade the bomb squad’s equipment—measures that will modernize county services. They also awarded bids for projects including a new pickup, a sewer lift station for the industrial park, and library repairs with county matches provided.  County 17
  • Tuesday morning, Campbell County Commissioners met to discuss the chairman’s claims of secret meetings against two board members—each member voiced their concerns about the allegations.  Gillette News Record
