CULTURE NEWS

  • Submissions for the 2026 Governor’s Capitol Art Exhibition are open with a deadline of Oct. 18—artists must submit work celebrating Wyoming's landscapes and communities to be considered for display at the Capitol from Feb. 9 through Aug. 8. The biennial exhibit honors Wyoming artists and contributes to the state's tribute to its history.  County 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Campbell County firefighters fought three grass fires that burned across 250 acres this week — all fires have been contained.  Gillette News Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal judge ruled in favor of PacifiCorp and its subsidiary Rocky Mountain Power on Wednesday in a case that allowed the utility to use an Aurora modeling tool for its 2023 rate hike—raising fears that Wyoming ratepayers may see higher bills—and one party is considering an appeal.  County 17
  • The City of Gillette will host its first talk on the nuclear industry next week on Thursday—residents can learn about nuclear energy and ask questions about its impact.  Gillette News Record
  • The City of Gillette is asking two residents to join its Board of Adjustments Citizen Advisory Board to grant variances from the zoning ordinance for a three-year term. Applicants who live in Gillette must apply by Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. — one term expires June 30, 2027 and the other expires June 30, 2028.  County 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • 307 Outlaw Streets is hosting its second and final drag race of the year today—drivers from Campbell County and other areas will compete for victory. Fans are invited to watch the roaring engines and cheer on their favorite racers.  Gillette News Record
