EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Chamber of Commerce Foundation has partnered with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to open applications for the 2026 National Civics Bee Wyoming Regional Competitions for sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Local chambers in Cheyenne, Casper, Thermopolis-Hot Springs and Glenrock will host contests—finalists will advance to state finals and then compete in Washington, D.C. in the fall for a chance at a grand cash prize. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is asking sage-grouse hunters to donate one wing from each harvested bird to check the health of the species. Hunters must leave one wing in a roadside drop-off barrel and keep the other attached as required by law — biologists will study the wings after the Sept. 20–30 hunting season to guide conservation efforts. - ➤ Campbell County firefighters quickly contained the Donkey Creek fire that spread to 300 acres after starting Thursday near Highway 59. A SET evacuation notice was issued for Sleepy Hollow as wind speeds of 15 to 20 mph and temperatures reached up to 89 degrees — these measures kept the fire from affecting nearby mobile home parks. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Outdoor Hall of Fame to honor those who made lasting contributions to Wyoming’s conservation efforts—nominations are open until March and can be submitted by mail or email. Director Angi Bruce said the committee will review submissions and select inductees in March based on significant statewide impact. County 17
