- ➤ William Big Hawk, a Sheridan man, faces a felony forgery charge after cashing a false check for $7,295 in Gillette on Dec. 2 and was arrested Friday—he is set to appear for his preliminary hearing on Sept. 11 with a $10,000 cash-only bond. County 17
- ➤ A man is charged with kidnapping, strangulation and domestic battery in Gillette as police investigate the alleged incident further. Gillette News Record
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Campbell County gas prices jumped 8 cents to $3.08 at Maverik & at stations in Gillette last week, yet they remained among the cheapest in state even as the national average rose to $3.16. AAA data showed that nearby counties like Natrona and Laramie continued offering lower prices. County 17
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Wool Initiative began the fourth year of its Lamb-a-Year program in partnership with the University of Wyoming College of Agriculture—Life Sciences to give students hands-on experience while collecting data on donated lambs weighing 70 to 90 pounds. Producers will be encouraged to donate at least two lambs by Sept. 30 so the testing can run from mid-October through February 2026. County 17

- ➤ The Campbell County 250 Story Walk Project has been named an awardee of the Semiquincentennial Grant Program by Gov. Mark Gordon’s office (announced Monday) and will display Campbell County history (part of the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence celebrations) in 2026. County 17
- ➤ Wyoming chambers today sent a letter to Congress asking for clear permit reforms to modernize processes and boost projects like roads, broadband, and water systems. The letter outlines four ideas including predictability+ transparency to reduce delays and help local growth. Wyoming News Now

- ➤ Gillette gardeners are urged to plant bulbs like tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths this fall — they should plant them roughly six weeks before the first hard frost to give roots time to grow.
