COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Boys and Girls Club of Campbell County asked the city to help pay for wood fiber mulch to make its playground safer — hard gravel had led to injuries. The Gillette City Council will review the plan at its Tuesday, Sept. 2 meeting. County 17
- ➤ First Baptist Church of Gillette will hold a free 9.11 kilometer run, walk, ride and remember event on Sept. 7 to honor first responders—registration will open at 7 a.m.—with the run scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. and end around 10 a.m. A memorial service will follow and volunteers will help with tasks. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Aug. 30, the Campbell County Fire Department answered calls in Gillette, including a vehicle collision on Union Chapel Road, a medical emergency on Mountain Meadow Lane, an ATV collision on Rocky Point Road, a hazmat investigation on Quacker Avenue, further medical calls on South Douglas Highway, Mallard Road and North Highway 14 16, plus fire alarms on Elkhorn Drive and Maverick Drive. The department had answered —2,165 requests for service— year to date. County 17
- ➤ Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray said lawsuits by the Elias Law Group and Tim Newcomb were dismissed and he will file a response to a suit about the state’s primary process under the sore loser law—he said over 90 percent of Wyoming voters back the election integrity measures.
