- ➤ Gillette residents can take part in CAM-PLEX Garage-A-Palooza Garage Sale and Flea Market today at Wyoming Center’s Equality and Frontier Halls; the sale runs from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. today and from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday—Saturday evening offers live music from Brandon Anderson at Grinners beginning at 7:00 p.m. and karaoke with Alien Entertainment at 8:00 p.m. County 17
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Darwin Crawford and Mark Orchard from Baggs pleaded guilty earlier this year for illegally dumping oilfield waste on federal land in Carbon County and were sentenced this week to one year of supervised probation and $28,330 in restitution by a U.S. District Court judge — the illegal disposal raised hydrocarbon levels significantly and endangered local wildlife nesting sites. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Aug. 27, Campbell County Fire Dept responded to six incidents in Gillette including a commercial fire alarm on East Highway 14-16, three separate medical calls on Harvard Drive, South Miller Avenue, and Four Corners Road, a timber fire on Highway 59 that was contained to 3 acres with damage to two outbuildings, and a telephone pole fire on Collins Road. Year to date the department has handled 2,130 requests for service (reports show these calls involved diverse emergencies). County 17
- ➤ The EPA proposed approval of Wyoming’s coal combustion residuals program application on Thursday during a Capitol ceremony with Gov.— Mark Gordon and Sen.— Cynthia Lummis as the state would manage coal ash disposal instead of the federal government. If finalized, Wyoming will be the fifth state with its own CCR permit program and the EPA will accept public comments for 60 days and hold a public hearing on October 30. County 17

- ➤ Campbell County Health announced today that its Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator device has arrived at Heptner Cancer Center—helping local patients receive advanced radiation therapy close to home as the machine precisely adjusts radiation delivery with patient movement to reduce side effects. - ➤ A Trace One analysis finds that fewer U.S. adults drink now—52.3% in 2023 compared to a high of 56.7%—while Wyoming’s rate stayed near 56.4% with little change since 2006. The report also shows that more people are searching for non-alcoholic options as drink choices grow. Wyoming News Now
