COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Gillette-owned Shell Food Marts are partnering with Shell to support the Boys & Girls Club of Campbell County through The Giving Pump, which will run from Sept. 1 through Oct. 31—using marked Purple Pumps so a portion of fuel purchases will help local kids.  County 17

CRIME NEWS

  • The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office provided arrest records from Aug. 7-14 to County 17 and the circuit court held arraignments on Aug. 25—charges remain subject to change and individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.  County 17

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Today, Campbell County’s gas price increased by only 1 cent to $3 per gallon while the national average rose 3.4 cents to $3.12—local Gillette stations like Cenex reported prices as low as $2.89. The update is based on GasBuddy data.  County 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Campbell County Fire Department responded to seven calls on Aug. 24 including a medical emergency at 2:13 a.m., a smoke report at 7:30 a.m., a citizen assist at 12:51 p.m., a two-vehicle collision at 2:15 p.m., another smoke report at 2:31 p.m., a medical emergency at 5:15 p.m. and a grass fire at 11:35 p.m.—the department has now handled 2,099 service requests this year.  County 17
  • The I-25 Port of Entry in Wyoming checks brakes, suspension, weight, and paperwork of each commercial vehicle to keep roads safe. Supervisor Curtis Robinson said the inspection—done every three months—helps prevent accidents on busy highways.  Wyoming News Now
  • Wyoming lawmakers are discussing proposals for more property tax breaks — some legislators are considering eliminating the taxes completely. They will debate the measures in upcoming sessions to decide if changes will help ease residents' burdens.  Gillette News Record
  • Mayor Shay Lundvall said Gillette is in a key position to benefit from the nuclear industry by exploring micro-reactor manufacturing while maintaining its oil, gas, and coal operations. City officials explained that an NDA with BWXT signed on Feb. 6 is legal after disputed council talks on Aug. 19—more information sessions will be scheduled.  County 17
