- ➤ A Wright man named Jhosep Mejia was issued a $250,000 cash-only bond after he allegedly beat his brother with steel-toed boots and threatened him with pistols during a family dispute, and a hearing is set for Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.—police reported that his brother sustained cuts and bruises. - ➤ Gillette police arrested Branson Potter and Kathleen Gley for child endangerment after a domestic call led them to discover meth in the home and signs of domestic violence—both parents face felony charges and have a hearing set for August 26 at 9 a.m. County 17
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Wyoming Historical Society announced its initiative to collect firsthand accounts — including personal stories, photographs, and records — from individuals impacted by the wildfires in 2024 and the ongoing fires in 2025. The society invites submissions by email or mail following a specified format to ensure these experiences are preserved for future generations. County 17

- ➤ A public-access group urged lawmakers to change a corner crossing bill to grant an affirmative right after a federal appeals court ruled corner crossing is legal—lawmakers met on Aug. 19 in Casper and considered removing property damage language and drafting a new bill. The group also requested that the committee delay final action in favor of discussing both options at a later meeting. County 17
