BUSINESS NEWS

  • 1892 Wine & Tapas Bar on Gillette Avenue—owned by Tara Rodriguez who employs 13 people—received its liquor license from the City Council, which lets it serve alcohol. The new business plans to offer a unique menu with gluten-free and organic options and will host Sunday brunches.  County 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Aug. 19, Campbell County Commissioners approved new appointments to fill vacancies on the Building Code Appeals, Planning Commission, Predatory Management, Public Land, and Adult Treatment Courts boards. The new members will serve terms starting on July 1, July 20, or Aug. 19, 2025—ensuring full membership and diverse input in county government.  County 17
  • The Campbell County Board of Commissioners signed five contracts on Aug. 19 using 1% sales tax funds to support local groups until June 30—ensuring they receive a portion of their yearly budgets. The deals will help the Gabriel Project, Gillette Are Refuge Foundation, Ride and Shine, Visitation and Advocacy Center and Y.E.S. House continue their services.  County 17
  • The Gillette City Council approved a $1,925,500 contract with Van Ewing Construction Tuesday night for a full renovation of City Hall that will improve the layout of all four floors and ease visitor access. The project will start around Oct 1 and is expected to be finished by December 2026 — it will also fix long-standing infrastructure issues.  County 17
  • The Gillette City Council approved two special event permits on Tuesday evening — one closing Wenger Drive on Sept. 11 for a Marine Corps League 5K and one closing First Street on Aug. 29 for a car show requested by Under Pressure Wash and Water — both of which were approved unanimously.  County 17
  • Campbell County Commissioners & the employee recognition committee honored seven long-serving county workers at a ceremony held on August 19, with service milestones ranging from 10 to 35 years. Eric Larson from the library celebrated 35 years of dedicated service & received special praise for his contributions.  County 17
  • Gillette City Council and Campbell County Commissioners have proclaimed Aug. 23 as 'Guiding Stars: Childcare Appreciation Day' to honor local childcare providers who nurture our youngest generation. Y.E.S. House Manager Susan Glanzer organized a celebration — from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch, prizes, and pampering — that will invite residents to show their thanks.  County 17
