Gillette City Pool closed its gates Friday after about 25,000 people visited during its summer reopening since 2021—its closure came as children headed back to school Monday.

On Aug. 15, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to calls that included medical emergencies on Four Corners, Hannum, and Bertha Avenues, grass fires from lightning—including a 1.2-acre G Range fire—and a two-vehicle collision at South Douglas Highway and Country Club Road, with other incidents like a railroad ties fire and activated alarms on El Camino and Hidden Valley Roads addressed throughout the day.
