- ➤ Today, CAM-PLEX celebrates its 40th anniversary with a 3-mile fun run at 8:00 a.m.—attendees can also visit a trade show at 9:00 a.m., enjoy a free BBQ feed at noon, and watch live music and comedy in the evening. County 17
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Campbell County Master Gardeners chapter will host two classes on native plants and seed saving at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Gillette News Record
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wyoming law enforcement agencies received a $2.4 million grant from Helmsley Charitable Trust to support Virtual Crisis Care—a program that connects officers with mental health professionals for immediate help during crises. The program is active in Sweetwater County, Green River, Rock Springs and Lusk with further training underway following Governor Mark Gordon’s August 5 announcement. Wyoming Public Media
- ➤ On August 14, the Campbell County Fire Department handled calls that included two-vehicle collisions, medical emergencies, a fire alarm, and fires caused by lightning or put out by rain—adding up to 2,027 service requests this year. The department responded to these incidents from mid-morning until later in the day. County 17
- ➤ Lawmakers debated a bill that would let a company store spent nuclear fuel for microreactors as community members in Casper and Bar Nunn raised concerns about safety, job opportunities, and local impacts—supporting some while opposing others. Lawmakers will work on the proposal and revisit it before the legislative budget session in February. Wyoming Public Media
