BLM firefighters reported the Weiser Knoll Fire, which ignited Sunday at 2 p.m., has burned over 16,000 acres and is now 51% contained near Lander; crews are still mopping up burning material and dropping water with helicopters to slow further spread.

Governor Gordon has ordered U.S. and Wyoming flags to be lowered at state buildings today to honor Ann Simpson — a champion of the arts and mental health whose funeral will be held in Cody.

Gillette City Council held a special workshop Tuesday evening to tackle the housing shortage.

The meeting reviewed ideas such as land trusts, infrastructure funding and a potential project called The Woodlands — a plan to develop 119 homesites if the city secures a Building Resilient Communities grant by Nov. 1.

The City of Gillette closed the east end of Red Ryder Drive — where it meets Benelli Drive — for asphalt patching.

It has been closed since July 21 and will reopen Aug. 21, while driveway access remains open.
