The Wyoming Legislature’s interim Joint Judiciary Committee rejected a draft bill that would have required Senate confirmation for state Supreme Court nominees in favor of keeping the current system where a nominating commission submits three names to the governor.
Practicing and retired attorneys including former justice Michael K. Davis warned that the change could delay filling court vacancies—lawmakers may reintroduce the proposal next session.
On Aug. 12, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to a 0.63 acre grass fire on Wild Bronc Way at 11:54 a.m.—as well as medical emergencies on Wagonhammer Lane at 12:58 p.m., Oregon Avenue at 5:37 p.m. and North Brooks at 11:54 p.m., plus a gas leak on Khadafy Road at 8:03 p.m. Year to date the department has answered 1,987 service calls.
