EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Campbell County School District is moving forward with plans to sell off several properties and one board member is urging the board to keep the old Aquatic Center—an asset that may serve future plans.  Gillette News Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Helmsley Charitable Trust is giving nearly $2.4M to the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police to fund Virtual Crisis Care that links officers with mental health experts via tablets—this pilot program, modeled after projects in South Dakota and Nevada, will help manage crises in remote areas.  County 17
  • Campbell County Commissioners approved funds from the county’s optional 1% sales tax to support six local groups including the conservation district, Personal Frontiers, the Salvation Army, Second Chance Ministries, Volunteers of America and Wright Community Assistance. The funds—ranging from $20,000 to $266,750—will pay for conservation work, food supplies, health services and job and housing support through next year.  County 17
  • Today, Campbell County Commissioners approved a $5,055,278 runway rehabilitation project and two pavement contracts awarded to Croel Inc.—with work set to begin from August to October and runway closures scheduled in 2026—at Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport. They also authorized purchasing new de-icing equipment under a $180,000 budget to meet the airport's operational needs.  County 17
  • On August 5, the Campbell County Board of Commissioners approved a $1.1 million purchase of 23 vehicles and equipment for county needs—such as sheriff’s office and public works vehicles—after a three-week bidding process that included out-of-town vendors. County Fleet Manager Anthony Langone said the board chose the best deals to save money for county operations.  County 17
  • The Campbell County Board of Commissioners approved a purchase of a new main freezer for Bell Nob Golf Course and reallocated funds for cooling fans and paving projects at the Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport on August 5th. The freezer cost $3,335.66 while the airport projects include a $9,340 fan purchase and additional funding transfers of $55,000 and $30,000—actions that support local facility improvements.  County 17

  • The ninth annual Matthew Sorenson Memorial Disc Golf Tournament will take place this Saturday at Dalbey Memorial Park—presented by Pinnacle Bank—and will honor Matthew Sorenson’s memory.  Gillette News Record
