- ➤ Today, Gillette and Dubois host many community events including Dubois Friday Night Rodeo at 7:30 p.m. (held at the Clarence Allison Memorial Arena) and Gillette Mule Deer Palooza at Big Lost Meadery with raffles and outdoor games; upcoming events include a demolition derby at 7 p.m., Coal Country Comedy Night at Grinners Bar (featuring Art Delgado at 7:30 p.m.), a free comedy show at 8 p.m., and the Campbell County Fair running through Aug. 3. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An 18-year-old Gillette man was charged with felony aggravated burglary and firearm theft along with multiple misdemeanors after stealing a pistol from a truck, breaking traffic laws and crashing his car with two juveniles inside near Church Avenue and 12th Street on July 21—he will face a preliminary trial on July 30 with a $7,500 cash-only bond set. County 17
- ➤ On the morning of July 23, Gillette police charged Dylan Hogan with burglary, possession of burglary tools and criminal trespass after he tripped an alarm at an apartment complex under construction and was later found hiding 75 yards away in a field — his preliminary hearing is set for July 29 and he was issued a $10,000 surety bond. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Gurley Overpass will be closed from Aug. 4 through Aug. 15—city officials said the road will get its annual maintenance deck injection repair. The closure will affect the section from East 4th Street to East Lincoln Street while Hladky Construction works on the repair. County 17
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ An analysis of CDC data shows Wyoming has one of the lowest STD rates in the nation, with 368.9 cases per 100,000 people and figures for Chlamydia at 313.2, Gonorrhea at 42.3, Syphilis at 9.2 + HIV at 4.2 well below the national average of 746.7. Local health officials will use these figures to guide future prevention measures. Wyoming News Now
