The Wyoming State Fair has announced it will join the national Great American Fair initiative to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary — a campaign that invites all state fairs to celebrate American heritage.

The fair will be held Aug. 12–16 in Douglas and aims to honor the role of agriculture and Wyoming’s traditions as it builds toward the semiquincentennial celebration.

On Tuesday, the DOJ filed its statement of interest as a federal court prepared to rule on a lawsuit challenging Wyoming’s voter registration law that now requires proof of citizenship and a 30-day residency while Equality State Policy Center attorneys argued the law burdens voters. The court set a deadline for objections until Tuesday and named county clerks as nominal parties—and it will soon decide whether to pause enforcement of the law.

On July 3, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to multiple incidents around Gillette including citizen assists, vehicle collisions, timber fires started by lightning, and emergency medical calls.

Firefighters contained several fires—one lighting a structure on Crestline Circle with residents safely evacuated—and heavy rain helped extinguish other grass fires.
