COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, Gillette offers a variety of events including live horse racing at CAM-PLEX Energy Downs with gates opening at 3:00 p.m.—a family-friendly Dubois rodeo at Clarence Allison Memorial Arena starting at 7:30 p.m.—a free Twilight trivia game with prizes at 7:00 p.m.—live piano music by Wilson Yee at Grinners Bar from 8:00 p.m.—and the National Rambouillet Show and Sale running from June 16th to 21st at CAM-PLEX’s East Pavilion.  County 17
  • Gillette’s The Edible Prairie Project received part of a $322,705 state grant to boost local food production and help families in Campbell County get fresh Wyoming-grown food. The funding—given through the Forward Contract Pilot Grant Program—will let the project add a local protein to its Veggie Basket program and extend service with two extra baskets in November and December.  County 17

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two Wyoming motorcyclists, Ricky Lynch and Steven Layman, died in a head-on crash on Highway 450 near Wright on Wednesday when a truck drifted into their lane—Campbell County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers responded around 8:10 a.m. and are investigating driver inattention as a possible factor.  County 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, Gillette is set for a very warm day with a high near 93 and breezy winds reaching up to 30 mph—skies will partly clear by tonight. The warm conditions will continue through the weekend until seasonable temperatures and more rain return by Sunday.  County 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After a tense Tuesday meeting, the Gillette City Council voted 5—2 to return $30,000 in reproductive health funding to the 2025–26 city budget.  Wyoming News Now
  • The Campbell County Commission voted unanimously to approve road closures for two drag racing events on Old Highway 59 this summer—local drivers should plan for alternate routes during the events.  Gillette News Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Tour Divide cycling race has reached Wyoming as about 200 racers who started on June 13 ride on rough roads through Grand Teton National Park + Union Pass near Pinedale and then cross the Red Desert. Leaders Robin Gemperle and Lael Wilcox are pushing to finish the nearly 2,800-mile course in 13 or 14 days.  Wyoming Public Media
  • On June 6, Shelby Holder broke the Wyoming tiger trout record near Kemmerer by catching a 14-pound, 15.2-ounce fish that measured 31.2 inches long with a 19-inch girth. His catch surpassed last year's record — marking the third consecutive year a record tiger trout was landed in Wyoming and Holder said he plans to have the fish mounted.  County 17
