- ➤ LaShanda La Fontaine, 26, is charged with felony attempted second-degree murder and felony aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing a 54-year-old man in the neck on Highway 387 on May 30—she will appear in Campbell County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing on June 9. County 17

- ➤ Two Gillette police officers, Carissa Lewis and Chad Trebby, earned the 1st Quarter P.R.I.D.E Award on June 3 for coordinating meals, cleaning services, and medical support for an elderly woman with health challenges—actions that have reduced her need for repeated medical calls. County 17
- ➤ The Campbell County Board of Commissioners introduced the Ready, Set, Go! emergency preparedness campaign on May 20 to teach residents a simple three-step process — Ready, Set, Go! — for handling emergencies like wildfires. Officials urged locals to sign up for Everbridge to receive timely alerts on cell phones, televisions, and radios. County 17
- ➤ Gillette City Council passed an ordinance Tuesday that sets up a Trap-Neuter-Release program to help control a rising feral cat population. The plan lets residents report community cats so they are trapped—spayed or neutered and given a rabies shot before being returned—and now awaits newspaper circulation and the mayor’s signature. - ➤ On Tuesday, the Campbell County Board of Commissioners approved grants that include over $1 million in federal funds for an airport taxi lane expansion, $510,000 for a multi-county coal seam fire mapping project, and $2,000 for the public library summer reading program—grants that are taxpayer-funded and fully accounted for in the county budget. The airport project will use the funds to ease current hangar space limits and support plans for additional private hangars—steps aimed at addressing capacity issues and emerging fire risks.
