CRIME NEWS

  • A 24-year-old woman was arrested for attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed a 54-year-old man twice in the neck on Highway 387 on May 30 before 7:47 a.m.—she was traveling with companions to Las Vegas and had reportedly smoked methamphetamine and fentanyl after stopping in Gillette.  County 17

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Campbell County Rockpile Museum will host World Atlatl Day 2025 with a Just for Fun throw event from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7 —attendees will throw darts with atlatls in the field behind the museum and enjoy a build-your-own atlatl session with special guest Doug Dumbrill.  Campbell County

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Campbell County’s average gas price dropped another 7 cents, falling to $3.08 today — continuing a two-week decline that has shaved off 17 cents total, according to AAA data.  County 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department warned Gillette residents that bear activity along roadways may increase with warmer weather. Outdoor enthusiasts in bear country are advised to secure attractants (like garbage, pet feed and birdseed) and report any sightings to help prevent conflicts.  County 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On June 1, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to six calls in Gillette, including medical emergencies on Sako Drive, Darrell Street, Overdale Drive, and West 2nd Street, a two-vehicle crash at Highway 387 and 50, and a call for a possible grass fire on Union Chapel Road (calls ranged from 7:49 a.m. to 8:58 p.m.). Year to date, the department handled 1,356 requests for service.  County 17
  • Campbell County commissioners will meet today at 8 a.m. for a briefing and 9 a.m. for their meeting at 500 S. Gillette Ave to review the proposed fiscal year 2026 budget, the FEMA grant for coal seam fire mapping, the South Side Hangar agreement, the library grant, a cloud software service contract, and public input on a road closure request— they will also discuss the Ready, Set, Go! campaign and air the meeting live on GPA-TV Channel 192— ensuring residents can follow the updates as they are planned.  County 17
