EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Campbell County School District 1 Board of Trustees approved a second reading of two policies that ban open carrying by the public and prohibit students from carrying any firearms on district property. The policies are now in a 45-day public review period—changes required under the Wyoming Repeal Gun Free Zones Act will go into effect after the review. County 17
- ➤ Brian Knox, the retiring tech director of Campbell County School District 1, delivered his final update to the Board on Tuesday and outlined a plan to replace outdated devices, cap Google storage for staff (100GB) and students (20GB), and shift to a new email system while strengthening cybersecurity and classroom technology upgrades. The district will use federal E-rate funds and a phased five-year plan to complete interactive panel installations and address future challenges. County 17
- ➤ At its March 11 meeting, the Campbell County School District 1 Board of Trustees approved over $168,000 for new computers and mowers and updated workers' compensation and physical exam policies. The board also authorized the district to apply for the WDE Education Trust Fund Grant, with qualifying schools to be notified by June 5 and funds to be disbursed by July 31. County 17

- ➤ A Custer County fire warden said that last summer's wildfires in northeast Wyoming likely started hundreds of new coal seam fires in Campbell, Sheridan and Johnson counties—officials will study the situation to determine its full impact. Gillette News Record

- ➤ The Campbell County Fire Department responded on Friday, May 30 to 15 incidents including medical calls, vehicle collisions, a smoke report and a fence fire—year to date it has handled 1,341 requests for service. County 17
