The Gillette Friends of NRA is hosting its 29th annual banquet today at Cam-plex Energy Hall and doors open at 5 p.m.—food catered by Pokey’s will serve guests at the event.

Cody’s Puzzle Piece Foundation is hosting its first annual Battle of the Baskets fundraiser—raising funds for sensory kits that first responders can use when assisting individuals with autism or sensory sensitivities.

The event will help equip first responders with the tools they need to improve emergency interactions.

Yesterday, Mayor Shay Lundvall cut the ribbon to open the new Gillette City Pool.

The $5.7 million project took three years and used local contractors, adding a zero-depth area, lap pool, water slides and a safety gate for small children — features that promise many fun summers ahead.

On May 29, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to eight incidents including multiple medical calls, a fire alarm, a hazardous material event, an aircraft emergency and a vehicle fire — and they have answered 1,326 requests for service this year.

Wyoming lawmaker Bob Ide said the Constitution requires Congress to turn over almost all federal land in the state except Yellowstone National Park and introduced a resolution that failed by one vote.

He said he will reintroduce his resolution next year—while lawmakers remain divided on state control of these lands.
