The Campbell County School Board held a hearing on a proposed ban that limits student cell phone use during class to boost face-to-face interaction + reduce distractions.
A second hearing is set for June 3 at 6 p.m. at the Educational Services Center for further community input.
Campbell County fire officials said Stage 1 fire restrictions are in effect today due to extremely dry vegetation, high temperatures, and strong winds that have sparked several wildfires; open burning is banned and burn barrels are allowed only from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Gillette’s Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport will hold a full-scale emergency exercise on June 10 from 10 a.m. to noon to test how airport crews and local agencies handle a simulated aviation emergency (FAA-required drill).
Commercial flights will continue normally during the exercise.
Healthcare workers and employers will gather in Gillette on June 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the George Amos Memorial Building (Cottonwood Room) to explore job opportunities and strengthen local healthcare services ahead of a major transition in July.
