ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A new report from the Wyoming Economic Analysis Division shows that Gillette had the third-largest population growth between July 1, 2023 and July 1, 2024 by adding 323 residents for a 1% increase. Gillette remains the third-largest community with 33,423 residents, following Cheyenne and Laramie. County 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At its May 20 meeting, the Gillette City Council approved a concealed carry ordinance that lets lawfully carried firearms be brought into city facilities while banning open carry—meeting safety concerns voiced by staff—for a 5-2 vote. The ordinance must pass three readings and other statutory steps before it takes effect. County 17
- ➤ On Tuesday, May 20, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to 10 incidents in Gillette—including fire alarms, medical emergencies, a structure fire, and an odor investigation—while the department has handled 1,260 requests for service year to date. County 17
