Local business Beach Please will host the Mayday Parade music festival at its parking lot on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. Owner Amber Kester said the event will feature nine local performers and many vendors (free and open to all ages) to support local talent.

A new report from the Wyoming Economic Analysis Division shows that Gillette had the third-largest population growth between July 1, 2023 and July 1, 2024 by adding 323 residents for a 1% increase.

Gillette remains the third-largest community with 33,423 residents, following Cheyenne and Laramie.

At its May 20 meeting, the Gillette City Council approved a concealed carry ordinance that lets lawfully carried firearms be brought into city facilities while banning open carry—meeting safety concerns voiced by staff—for a 5-2 vote.

The ordinance must pass three readings and other statutory steps before it takes effect.

On Tuesday, May 20, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to 10 incidents in Gillette—including fire alarms, medical emergencies, a structure fire, and an odor investigation—while the department has handled 1,260 requests for service year to date.
