- ➤ On May 14th, dozens gathered at the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office to honor peace officers who died in the line of duty. The memorial featured prayers, 21 gunshots — a bugle and speeches reading names — and quiet remembrance for police, firefighters and EMTs. County 17
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Campbell County School District 1 Board of Trustees began reviewing new rules for firearms on school property Tuesday in response to a state law. The board approved policies that ban open carry and student firearm possession—while setting strict guidelines, training, and review processes for authorized employees—with a public review period of 45 days and final approval set for July 16. - ➤ WBL announced summer reading events that will run every Wednesday from June 4 to July 30, offering interactive programs for kids and families—children in 3rd grade or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Campbell County
- ➤ The Campbell County School District Board of Trustees approved a new facility usage policy Tuesday that defines sex based on biology and requires restrooms, locker rooms and changing areas to follow student handbook guidelines—providing alternatives for anyone who prefers other options—and allows temporary use in emergencies. Deputy Superintendent Kirby Eisenhauer said the change passed unanimously as maintenance ensures facilities are properly marked. County 17
