On May 14th, dozens gathered at the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office to honor peace officers who died in the line of duty.

The memorial featured prayers, 21 gunshots — a bugle and speeches reading names — and quiet remembrance for police, firefighters and EMTs.

The Campbell County School District 1 Board of Trustees began reviewing new rules for firearms on school property Tuesday in response to a state law.

The board approved policies that ban open carry and student firearm possession—while setting strict guidelines, training, and review processes for authorized employees—with a public review period of 45 days and final approval set for July 16.
