In a few weeks, Gillette Animal Control and Health Services will launch a new program to reduce the rising feral cat population—officials say the updated approach aims to improve animal and public health in our community.

Gillette’s Salvation Army will offer guided tours and light refreshments from May 13-15, 1 to 3 p.m. at its facility on 209 Stocktrail Ave—part of National Salvation Army Week celebrating 160 years of service.

An elections organization sued the secretary of state and county clerks on May 9 to challenge HB-156, a law that requires voters to show proof of citizenship and residency after living in the state for 30 days; the suit claims the measure burdens eligible voters, especially women, Hispanic, young and low-income residents. Secretary of State Chuck Gray said he will defend the law, which is set to go into effect on July 1 unless a judge blocks it.
