- ➤ The 2025 July 4th parade will honor the Campbell County Fire Department with the theme Blazing Bravery, Burning Bright and participation is free. Participants must register by June 30 and pick up parade packets from July 2 after 1 p.m. until July 3 at 10 p.m. while including a safety team of 2 to 4 people who will not distribute candy or water. - ➤ Gillette Police said they have new information on missing person Kelsey Johnson who was last seen on April 14 at a local mobile home park; she was picked up by a male in an older Dodge pickup truck and may have been driven to Colorado+ detectives said friends had not seen her for weeks. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Two Gillette poets were honored at the annual WyoPoets contest—Don Oakley placed third for his poem 'The Gleaner’s Homestead' and received an honorable mention—and Reatha Oakley also earned an honorable mention at the event. The contest, held during the spring workshop in Cheyenne, celebrated local talent in poetry. County 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Gillette City Council voted Tuesday night to approve a special events permit requested by BTK Detailing—allowing a section of Frontage Road to be closed for the Clean Rides Car Show. The event will take place on June 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.—featuring cars, trucks, hot rods, and Jeeps lined up along the road. County 17
- ➤ At Tuesday night, the Gillette City Council approved a $411,000 bid for a new water monitoring building for Fox Park Subdivision located at East Highway 51 and Fox Park Avenue. The building will monitor flow rates along the 30-inch Madison water line—helping the city manage water quality and shutdowns. County 17
- ➤ The Gillette City Council voted on May 6 to advance a Trap-Neuter-Release ordinance that will let trained staff capture free-roaming cats, spay or neuter them, and return them to their original spots — an effort to manage the rise in feral cats. The ordinance now awaits two more readings before it can become law. County 17
- ➤ Governor Gordon is partnering with the Wyoming Veterans Commission to host Veterans Welcome Home Day events in four towns on May 10 to thank military veterans and their families. The celebrations will include official remarks and receiving lines for community members to express their gratitude — a special day planned to honor veterans who may not have been properly thanked when they returned home.
