COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will host its 13th annual Strawberry Festival starting at 9 a.m.—inviting locals to celebrate the early May season.  Gillette News Record
  • The Campbell County Rockpile Museum will host a Memorial Day Cemetery Walk at Mount Pisgah Cemetery at 2 p.m. on May 26 to honor 12 Campbell County veterans; museum assistant Greg Bennick will share 12 unique stories from wars ranging from WWI to Vietnam.  County 17

CRIME NEWS

  • Gillette police are searching for Kelsey Johnson, 32—who was last seen on April 14 at a mobile home park—and ask anyone with information to contact them.  County 17

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Sheepherder's Festival is set to bring dancing, music, food, history, rare craftsmanship — and plenty of sheep to Gillette. The event will showcase traditional art and local heritage for all to enjoy.  Gillette News Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Mark Gordon donated a wild bison license for a raffle that supports wildlife conservation for the seventh year; tickets cost $10 and are available online from May 1 through June 13 for eligible Wyoming residents. The raffle winner will be announced on June 23 and will receive a non-transferable 2025 wild bison license—additional stamps and licenses must still be purchased.  County 17
  • The Gillette City Council approved a permit and street closures on 2nd Street for the annual Fourth of July Parade set for Independence Day, with staging on 1st Street from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. The parade theme, Blazing Bravery, Burning Bright, will honor the Campbell County Fire Department—organizers also plan to request a flyover from Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.  County 17
  • The Campbell County Board of Commissioners moved its meeting to Wright and will meet today at 5 p.m. for a briefing before the 6 p.m. session at Wright Town Hall (395 Lariat Way). City staff said the meeting will not be livestreamed due to technical issues and that a recording will be available by the end of this week.  County 17
  • On May 5, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to calls that included a medical emergency on Mountain Meadow Lane, a structure fire on Lawver Road, a gas odor investigation on Red Ryder Drive, and an arcing electrical line near West 3rd Street. So far this year the department answered 1,134 requests for service.  County 17
