COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Campbell County Veterans Council is hosting a Veterans and Family Appreciation Barbecue today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — the event welcomes veterans and families for an afternoon in the sun.  Gillette News Record
  • The Special Olympics Wyoming State Summer Games returned to Gillette for the third straight year and are underway for athletes to compete.  Gillette News Record

CRIME NEWS

  • On May 1, a Gillette man (19-year-old Jayden Tetzlaff) was arrested for terroristic threats after he allegedly told county employees there would be bodies dropping when his attorney complaint was explained at Campbell County District Court; officers later located his bicycle at a campground on West 2nd Street where he admitted making the threat.  County 17
  • A 36-year-old man was arrested on two counts of kidnapping, five counts of battery, destruction of property, three counts of breach of peace and reckless endangerment — after he hit someone and barricaded his hotel room when a woman's cries were heard — in Gillette.  Gillette News Record
  • A man was arrested after making threats at the District Court Clerk's office.  Gillette News Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Campbell County attorney from Gillette is one of three finalists to replace Circuit Judge Wendy Bartlett (retiring July 1), with the other two finalists from Casper.  Gillette News Record
  • Governor Mark Gordon ordered flags to fly at half-staff from sunrise until sunset on May 4—an order honoring the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service and the brave first responders—according to his office.  County 17
  • On May 1, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to nine incidents including two early morning medical emergencies, a fire alarm, a two-vehicle collision, a natural gas leak, further medical emergencies, an arcing electrical box and a gas odor investigation — and they reported a total of 1,102 service calls for the year so far.  County 17
  • Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray held a town hall at Campbell County Public Library on Thursday evening—he promoted new election integrity laws and explained the details of a recently passed bill.  Gillette News Record
