- ➤ Campbell County Fire Department crews quickly controlled a residential fire near Denver (and) Nebraska streets in Gillette after all occupants evacuated safely with police help; no injuries were reported and officials suspect improperly discarded smoking materials may have caused the blaze. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, the National Weather Service warned Gillette residents of critical fire weather as high temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds led to a Red Flag Warning; a cold front is moving through today, bringing cooler temperatures & higher humidity. County 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Gurley Overpass will close intermittently for its annual inspection in May, with work every day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 4-8 and May 11-15, so drivers should plan ahead for potential delays. County 17
- ➤ Gov. Mark Gordon signed an agreement on April 21 (with the NRC) that gives Wyoming DEQ authority to regulate uranium waste from rare earth mining so Rare Element Resources Inc. expects faster, less costly permits at its Bear Lodge Project near Sundance, spurring local job growth and innovation.
