- ➤ The Wyoming Arts Council has issued a public art call for proposals for a new helibase being built by the Wyoming State Forestry Division on the Casper-Natrona County International Airport grounds—art will be commissioned for both the interior and exterior of the building. Wyoming artists have preference and proposals must be submitted through May 9—artists from Colorado, Idaho, Montana and Utah may also apply. County 17
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A University of Wyoming study finds that if shoppers switch 5% of their grocery budgets to local foods, the state’s GDP could gain over $36 million, more than doubling current earnings from local sales. Assistant professor Anders Van Sandt said the data (from USDA figures) show increased local sales can create jobs and strengthen rural economies (while transportation costs remain a challenge). - ➤ Gillette College Diesel Club is holding its spring Dyno Day to raise funds for the team’s travel to the Ultimate Call Out Challenge in Brownsburg, Indiana. Gillette News Record
- ➤ Lakeview Elementary School held a parade for students ahead of standardized testing and began its WY-TOPP tests Thursday—students participated in the event before their assessments. Gillette News Record
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wyoming is testing its state-backed digital token in an alpha program led by the Wyoming Stable Token Commission — the token will launch on July 4 after thorough stress tests to ensure security and proper liquidity backed by short-term Treasury bonds. Governor Mark Gordon and his team are finalizing the process to allow digital wallet transactions and to funnel accrued interest into the Wyoming Schools Foundation Fund. Wyoming Public Media
