CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Resident Ian Brown, a Navy veteran and business owner, said that the Campbell County Courthouse parking garage is a center for illegal activity—revving engines, racing and threats disturb nearby residents—and county officials are planning to install signage and explore limited access hours to curb the disturbances with police reporting little success so far. - ➤ A former staff member at Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center was arrested for felony manslaughter after he failed to check on 88-year-old Judith Duvall, who left the facility on Jan. 9 and died from exposure in cold weather—Bernard D. Hale, 57, is set for a preliminary hearing on April 22. County 17
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Wyoming author-illustrator duo Casey Rislov and Zak Pullen hit the road with their new children's book 'A Home for Steamboat' which tells the story of the state's legendary horse—an enduring symbol of Wyoming history. They stopped in Laramie on April 15 to sign copies and will continue their tour through Wyoming and Montana so locals can meet the creators and celebrate their heritage. County 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Campbell County Board of Commissioners approved a waiver on landfill fees for the town of Wright’s annual cleanup event, set for May 9 and 10. Chris Roemmich said the event lets residents drop off most trash for proper disposal. County 17
- ➤ On April 11, Wyoming’s federal lawmakers said unelected judges have too much power and that Congress should curb their ability to block federal actions. They added that critics should have reached out first—rather than sending an open letter—before raising these issues. County 17
- ➤ On April 15, the Campbell County Board approved adding an administrative assistant to Children’s Developmental Services to support rising service numbers from state contracts— they also approved NEOGOV software to centralize hiring in Human Resources. The new position is part of the fiscal 2025–2026 budget and the software is expected to help reduce hiring costs. County 17
- ➤ Governor Mark Gordon will lead a trade mission to Japan and Taiwan with state officials — University of Wyoming representatives and energy leaders to promote Wyoming's gas, coal and rare earth minerals. The delegation will meet with government leaders and visit companies to build new business links. Wyoming News Now
