- ➤ Authorities in Gillette reported Tuesday’s April 15 arrests and arraignments by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office—charges ranged from contempt of court, marijuana cultivation, and DWUI to manslaughter and aggravated assault, with some names withheld per law enforcement request. County 17

- ➤ Jim Neiman said his Hulett timber mill struggles to stay open as low tree supply and economic challenges force it to run only one shift. A federal order by Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins declared an emergency to speed up timber sales on 113M acres of forest land — the change may help mills operate faster though some worry it could harm the forests. The agency urged drivers to avoid ruts and respect closures to protect the area until conditions improve. County 17

- ➤ Campbell County commissioners raised landfill disposal fees for tires, refrigerators and clean wood on Tuesday, March 4 after Public Works Manager Bill Beastrom explained that rising out-of-area waste and permit rules made the old rates unsustainable—car and pickup tire fees rose from $3 to $6, refrigerators from $35 to $45, and clean wood now costs $75 per ton. - ➤ Campbell County commissioners approved budget amendments for the Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport to temporarily manage fueling services after the fixed-base operator contract ended — the amendments fund operations until July 1 and create four new positions — while an RFP process is set to begin in July. - ➤ Campbell County Board of Commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding that lets the sheriff’s office buy Celebrite Premium digital forensic software for $15,000. OUR Rescue provided $7,750 while the county budgeted $7,250, and the agreement runs from June 1 to May 31. County 17

- ➤ Today, as residents clean homes and outbuildings, the Wyoming Department of Health warned Gillette locals to take care when cleaning areas where deer mice might have been to avoid the deadly hantavirus. The agency advised opening windows for 30 minutes, not sweeping or vacuuming rodent droppings, and using disinfectants, and said people should call a doctor if they develop fever, tiredness, or muscle pain (38 percent of those with lung trouble may die).
