ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On April 11, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to fire alarms at 1801 4-J Road at 12:23 a.m. and 14872 Highway 387 at 12:47 a.m.—it also handled a natural gas leak from heavy equipment on Force Road and High Cliff Avenue at 11:50 a.m., contained a grass fire at 5842 Hannum Road at 3:53 p.m., and managed a two-vehicle collision at West 2nd Street and South Fir Avenue at 5:32 p.m.  County 17

CULTURE NEWS

  • A local art teacher reached the quarterfinals of a national competition—her achievement marks a significant milestone in her artistic career.  Gillette News Record

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A University of Wyoming Extension study finds that if residents dedicate 5% of their grocery budgets to local foods, production could boost state GDP by an extra $36.3 million—up from $24.4 million today. The research shows that direct-to-retailer sales increased by 24% while direct-to-consumer sales grew 35%—and it calls for new partnerships to address storage and distribution challenges.  County 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Campbell County School District board voted unanimously Tuesday to keep school breakfast and lunch prices unchanged for next school year (the planned 25-cent increase was dropped).  Gillette News Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bureau of Land Management announced an oil and gas lease sale on June 12 that will offer 66 parcels totaling 70,415 acres — these parcels did not sell in past lease sales. The sale is a first step before operators apply for drilling permits and is offered along with another lease sale set for June 10.  County 17
  • After a Tuesday evening meeting with Campbell County Commissioners, City Council, and Wright Town Council, the proposed budgets for the Campbell County Fire Department and Cam-plex received support—ensuring both agencies will move forward with their plans.  Gillette News Record
