ECONOMY NEWS

  • The March Economic Analysis Division report shows mixed economic trends as natural gas and crude oil prices fell while utilities collections rose; however, sales tax and mining collections dropped over the year—employment increased to 297,000 with job gains in construction and leisure sectors. This report reveals how state indicators have shifted compared to last year.  County 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Campbell County School District 1 Board of Trustees honored the Thunder Basin High wrestling team and Campbell County High basketball team at its Tuesday meeting for winning state championships. The wrestling team qualified 24 wrestlers, placed 16 and scored 304 points while planning to return nine placers next year—and the basketball team won its March 14 semifinal against Sheridan with its coach named coach of the year.  County 17
  • At the Campbell County School District 1 meeting on April 8, 2025, the board approved rehire recommendations for the upcoming school year—trustee Mary Brunner voted against them as she questioned why the district employs so many administrators and pays them more than teachers. She also asked why two high schools have four principals and said her vote was based on the system overall.  County 17
  • The Campbell County School District Board of Trustees approved spending $2.85M during its Tuesday meeting to upgrade school facilities and purchase new equipment. The projects include a remodel at Lakeway Learning Center, playground improvements at Wagonwheel Elementary, lighting upgrades at Meadowlark and Rozet Elementary, a kitchen remodel at Sage Valley Junior High, and a domestic water upgrade at Twin Spruce Junior High — funding comes from the general fund and State Major Maintenance.  County 17
  • At its April 8 meeting, the Campbell County School District 1 Board of Trustees approved a $16,937.25 special education training contract with Boys Town scheduled for July 21—July 24 and an $8,100 professional development agreement with Marzano Resources for a school culture talk on Aug. 13. The board also approved updates to special education services with agreements from Scholastic Book Fairs, Inter-State Studio, Northeast Wyoming Board of Cooperative Educational Services, and Liahona Academy.  County 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The detailed analysis for the Kissack Exchange has been made available for public review at the Campbell County Commissioner's Office (500 South Gillette Avenue, Suite 1100) and online, with public comments accepted by mail or email until May 27. The State Board of Land Commissioners will review the matter on June 5 at 8:00 a.m. in the Capitol Complex Auditorium.  Campbell County
