ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On April 4, Campbell County Fire Department responded to emergencies that included vehicle collisions, rollover accidents, medical calls, activated fire alarms, and a report of a structure fire with no fire found—actions that spanned from early morning until evening.  County 17

BUSINESS NEWS

  • On July 1st, GateOne became the fixed base operator at the Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport, replacing Flightline—which had served for 25 years. Concerns have grown over lack of maintenance, charter service and flight instruction as the new operator begins handling airport services.  Gillette News Record

CRIME NEWS

  • A Campbell County woman is accused of stealing $3.5K in cash from a family friend who provided her with an office and a place to live.  Gillette News Record

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Today, Wyoming’s largest electric utility said it will keep the Dave Johnston coal-fired power plant near Glenrock open—protecting hundreds of local jobs—while stopping coal use at the Naughton plant near Kemmerer by year-end and shifting toward natural gas. Local officials say this move helps stabilize power and fits into the company’s updated energy plan.  County 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A team of fourth grade students from Rozet Robotics is set to compete in the World VEX IQ Robotics Competition after learning not to take apart their state tournament robot too soon—this lesson will guide them as they work to improve their design for future events.  Gillette News Record

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department said many public and state lands west of the Continental Divide are closed to shed antler and horn collection until May 1 for residents and May 8 for nonresidents — nonresidents 15 and older need a conservation stamp. The department also noted that 44 wildlife habitat management areas protecting big game winter ranges will remain closed until their scheduled opening dates.  County 17

  • Campbell County Commissioners approved the sale of a 5-acre lot on North Garner Lake Road for $330,000 to Eastern Gillette Development, LLC this week.  Gillette News Record
