EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wright High School senior Laura Benim was named a Daniels Scholar for 2026, earning a four-year college scholarship as announced by Daniels Fund today. The program selected 205 students across four states (20 from Wyoming) to reward academic excellence and community service. County 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, April 2, Campbell County Fire Department answered calls for medical emergencies, a fire alarm, a two-vehicle collision and a small grass fire on Highway 59 — totaling 839 calls received year to date. County 17
- ➤ Campbell County commissioners announced that residents will be allowed to use fireworks outside city limits for the two weeks leading up to the Fourth of July — the measure is temporary and applies only to areas outside town boundaries. Gillette News Record
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Special Olympics Wyoming will host the 2026 State Summer Games in Gillette from April 30 through May 2, featuring competitions in athletics, basketball, powerlifting and swimming at local venues such as Thunder Basin High School and CAM-PLEX, and opening with a Law Enforcement Torch Run (with music and food trucks). - ➤ 307 Outlaw Streets will host three street racing events this summer on Little Powder River Road + Old Highway after last year's successes, with local commissioners and the fire department approving the plan. Gillette News Record
