ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ At the end of 2024, the Wyoming Economic Analysis Division reported that single-family home prices in Gillette increased by 8.2% from the previous year while the national trend was 4.5%. Many homeowners kept their homes due to low interest rates so the supply stayed scarce — the market is expected to remain overpriced until affordability gradually improves. County 17
EDUCATION NEWS

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wyoming’s invasive weed program may receive less federal funding this upcoming season, which could force districts to hire fewer workers and shift more costs to landowners. Officials are waiting to see which funds remain intact as federal cuts put new treatment projects at risk. Wyoming Public Media
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gillette residents will face a 4% rate increase starting May 1 as part of a three-year plan adopted in 2023 to help cover rising labor, equipment, and material costs—typical households will pay about $9.27 more per month. The changes come after a study by FCS Group, Inc. recommended a rate hike and a $4.8M transfer from the City General Fund. County 17
- ➤ Casper College Goodstein Foundation Library will host the inaugural Wyoming Veteran Services Symposium on April 10 and April 11 and Governor Mark Gordon will speak on the second day at noon to honor six service providers with the Excellence in Veterans Services awards—he said the event will unite government and non-government groups in supporting Wyoming veterans. The symposium is free to attend but requires pre-registration. County 17
- ➤ The state has opened a property tax refund program to help homeowners who struggle to pay their taxes after lawmakers allocated $10.5 million in state funds. Gov. Mark Gordon signed a law that lowers the income cap for refunds to 145% of county income and sets refunds at 75% of taxes paid for those earning 125% or below—homeowners must apply by June 2 and the changes take effect July 1.
