COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Inspire WYou is hosting a series of events this month to help residents learn about health, well-being, and financial tips. The first event on April 12 in Gillette at the George Amos Memorial Building from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. features motivational speaker Norberto Orellana, dietitian Clea Brott, movement expert Felisha Messimer, bank presenter Tamara Atkins and a horticulture workshop—registration costs $40 for 30 spots.  County 17

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On Monday, drivers in Campbell County paid $3.20 per gallon while the national average rose to $3.11 and Wyoming prices increased 4 cents to $3.13. Johnson County had the lowest rate at $2.92 per gallon, and experts warn that national prices may rise further (AAA and GasBuddy data).  County 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A report from Wyoming Game and Fish showed that residents in the Gillette area are worried about mule deer habitat loss, weak winter ranges and hunting rules after 37 community meetings in 2024. Locals want changes such as better doe tag allocations and adjusted hunting season structures—efforts aimed at helping the mule deer recover from a decades-long decline.  County 17

FINANCE NEWS

  • Way.com's data team released new research on Wyoming car insurance rates using public filings and internal data. The report shows American National offers the cheapest liability at $17 per month and full coverage at $78 per month—rates that change with traffic violations and vary by city.  Wyoming News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Countywide fire restrictions that had been in effect from March 24 were lifted at 9 a.m. March 31 due to improved conditions after a period of dry weather and high fire danger. The Campbell County Fire Department advised residents to remain cautious as conditions can change quickly.  County 17
  • Local lawmakers recapped the legislative session at a town hall meeting in Gillette where they noted that bills from the session, which ended weeks ago, still drive discussion among residents. They explained that the ongoing debate over these measures will shape upcoming policy decisions.  Gillette News Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • Cat food is being recalled in Wyoming due to possible H5N1 bird flu contamination as Laramie County Public Health announced the FDA recalled Savage Cat Food Large Chicken Boxes 84 oz. and Small Chicken Boxes 21 oz.—people with the product should return it for a refund and monitor their cats for symptoms.  County 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Wyoming Cavalry will bring indoor football to Gillette as they join American Indoor Football for the 2026 season—playing home games at the CAM-PLEX under a new three-year lease. Team leaders will hold a press conference on May 1 at 2 p.m.—to explain plans and invite local fans to join the excitement.  County 17
  • Campbell County Parks and Rec has begun registration for its Adult Softball League today; registration will close at 6 p.m. April 27—teams must attend a mandatory captain’s meeting at 5:30 p.m. April 30 at the Recreation Center and the league will start the week of May 5 with a $550 fee.  County 17
