Good morning, Gillette. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 25th of March.

ECONOMY NEWS

  • GasBuddy data shows the national average gas price increased 6.3 cents to $3.08 per gallon, marking its first rise in about a month, while Campbell County’s price jumped 18 cents to $3.20, placing it among the costlier areas on Monday. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Social Security Office announced that beginning March 31 residents must use online or in person services—this change is meant to curb fraud. AARP Wyoming’s Tom Lacock said the new policy will force many older Americans in rural areas to travel farther and may lead to longer wait times and increased scams, and he urged citizens to contact their congress members.  Wyoming News Now
  • The Childcare Interagency Working Group launched child care grants in January offering up to $10,000 to providers and the overwhelming response confirmed a strong need for support — the high interest shows that child care assistance is in great demand statewide.  Gillette News Record
  • Campbell County Commissioners are accepting bids from interested parties for grazing leases on Spaeth Ranch — nearly 7,000 acres reserved for livestock grazing — as the county plans to boost local agricultural opportunities.  Gillette News Record
  • The Campbell County Fire Department implemented Stage 1 Fire Restrictions on all county lands except federal lands starting March 24th because dry conditions and recent wildfires raised fire danger. The restrictions ban open fires, fireworks, and outdoor burning during most hours—only allowing controlled container burning from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.—with exceptions for law enforcement and mine operations and will end when conditions improve.  County 17
