Good morning, Gillette. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 18th of March.

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Campbell County gas prices in Gillette rose 3 cents to $3.02 per gallon on Monday even as the national average fell, putting local drivers above Wyoming’s steady state rate of $3 according to GasBuddy and AAA data—this rise suggests economic uncertainty amid shifting fuel demand. Local stations like M.G. Oil Co. reported their lowest price at $2.97 per gallon.  County 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Campbell County School Board met on March 11 to review plans for replacing the high school with a new facility that includes a stadium on the east lot scheduled for completion in January—board members noted a design team contract is expected to be signed within 30 to 45 days and that visioning with stakeholders will begin in May. The board also approved capital projects like plumbing and fire panel repairs while assuring maintenance of the current high school during construction—officials explained that the aquatic center is funded separately.  County 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Earlier today, residents experienced strong winds with gusts up to 55 mph under a Red Flag Warning that signaled critical fire danger while northeastern Wyoming braced for hazardous weather. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through tonight—snowfall and icy roads may impact travel later today.  County 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Campbell County commissioners met on Jan. 21 at 8 a.m. at 500 S. Gillette Ave to review a Shared Roads Memorandum of Understanding and a proposal for an Elections Clerk position—GPA-TV Channel 192 aired the meeting live. • The Gillette City Council will vote this week on a 762K project to repair Desert Hills Circle after tests showed design flaws and severe road damage. If approved, construction will begin this summer and finish by October — the project will install a thicker asphalt layer with new drainage and water main valve replacements — to improve roadway safety.  County 17
  • Construction will start next week at the Beulah exit to repair the I-90 bridge, and drivers heading to South Dakota should expect delays—work is planned to last for several weeks.  Gillette News Record
  • Tomorrow night the Gillette City Council will consider an MOU with Campbell County to provide lifeguards, cleaning and testing for the new city pool. The pool is scheduled to open in May and the city will pay $177,060 for county services—covering staffing, maintenance and testing during the swim season.  County 17
  • Governor Mark Gordon signed five bills into law March 17—one gives $10.5 million to fund the property tax refund program while changing how property tax exemptions are applied—and another bill changes the state treasurer’s performance pay calculation to a geometric average starting fiscal year 2026. He has until midnight Friday to sign the remaining bills on his desk.  Wyoming Public Media
